 In August, 1998, Essie Garrett retraces the Route of Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad, a 500 mile run from Bucktown, Maryland, then Pennsylvania, then New York, and ending in Saint Catharine's, Ontario, Canada. Essie will rest in the safe houses used by escaped slaves. On August 5, Essie made a detour to Havre de Grace, Maryland, for a special welcome and tours of historical sites. |
