RED TAIL: The Colorado Mountain Man
A sponsor of The Essie Garrett Continental Divide Run, RED TAIL: The Colorado Mountain Man has spent much of his life detailing the state's history through colorful, interactive presentations for people young and old. At the Laughing Valley Ranch in Golden, Colorado, "RED TAIL" raises donkeys and mules that are used throughout the state on pack hikes, donkey races, and in shows. Two of his donkeys are on loan to Essie Garrett and will help carry her supplies over the Continental Divide just as they did during the 1800s.

In preparation for the Continental Divide Run, Essie visited the Laughing Valley Ranch. There she learned how to properly pack a donkey, balancing the weight it will carry, and how to maneuver and motivate the animals up steep mountain trails, across creeks, and along roadways. Essie broadened her understanding of how to "listen" to the donkeys' needs, ensure their safety, and even how to track them should they get lost in the wild.

RED TAIL - The Colorado Mountain Man will take you back in time with his authentic and historically accurate presentation on the mountain men and their experiences with the Indians, the wildlife native to Colorado, and the hardships of their wilderness experience.
He relates facts, tales and Colorado history as well as touching on environmental and ecological issues past and present.
RED TAIL's show-n-tell, question and answer format allows children young and old to see, hear, feel, and smell what it was like to live in the Rockies in the early 1800s.
You are invited to join RED TAIL as he packs his trappings and accoutrements into your gathering or campfire on his old burro "Bambino" and discharges his musket to start your "Rendezvous" with the past.
